To celebrate the Embassy Theatre’s one hundredth centenary season, BBC Radio Lincolnshire have released their superb documentary as a part of their Secret Lincolnshire series.

The documentary features interviews with a host of household names – singers, comedians and variety performers, who offer their own unique insights into performing in our wonderful venue. The documentary also includes an exclusive chat with Lady Anne Dodd who for many years, accompanied Sir Ken Dodd on his regular trips to Skegness – assisting the man himself, who performed here for 45 consecutive years.

More from the BBC:

It’s long been a popular East Coast venue for locals, holidaymakers and entertainers and in 2026, the Embassy Theatre in Skegness is celebrating its centenary. The seafront venue, which has seen many changes since it opened, has hosted some of the biggest names in British showbusiness and variety, with legendary comic Sir Ken Dodd appearing at the Embassy for 45 years in a row. Karl Bird went for a backstage tour of the theatre and spoke to some of the stars who have performed there, including Jasper Carrott, Showaddywaddy frontman Dave Bartram, Alfie Boe, and in one of his final interviews, Jimmy Cricket. Produced and presented by Karl Bird.
