The Embassy Theatre is today, along with a host of other venues, industry professionals and the wider entertainment industry, proud to be joining the #LightItInRed initiative to highlight the critical state of the UK live entertainment industry.

This dynamic creative sector, which includes live entertainment, music, events, theatre and performance, generates billions of pounds a year for the UK economy and is known for its creative flair, passion and invention. Regrettably, our venue remains closed and this is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. We are missing our customers, our hugely passionate team and the touring productions and shows that we are proud to welcome to our wonderful theatre.

The UK’s #LightItInRed action was inspired by a #NightofLight in Germany on 22nd June. Over 9,000 buildings were lit up to raise awareness and to ensure that attention was brought to both the public and the government.

Whilst we are not in a position to light the exterior of our building on this hugely significant evening, we are still going to be a part of this wonderful initiative in our own way and we urge everyone else to support an industry that thrives on the creativity of a hugely skilled workforce. We are ‘going red’ inside our venue and our social media channels will also be supporting this venture.

Across the nation, venues are shuttered, companies and suppliers remain closed and thousands of people who make this industry what it is, are struggling to make ends meet as their work has been either cancelled or postponed – with no idea about when they will be able to return.

This thriving, vibrant and innovative industry brings enjoyment to so many, having a hugely positive influence on the mental health of the country. So many incredible memories are made, making a lasting impression – bringing families together to enjoy live entertainment. An atmosphere that it is impossible to replicate.

The Embassy Theatre team remain committed to this wonderful venue and when the time is right, we will be back to offer you the very best experience that we can. This is what we do.

The theatre remains extremely grateful for the outpouring of support it has received and also for all of the donations we have been sent since we closed to the public in March. We have been truly humbled and it is so reassuring to know that the venue means so much to so many. We are also extremely grateful to our partners at East Lindsey District Council for their continued investment.

The latest information about re-scheduled performances is available here.
