In July 2020 (in a short 12 months time) Magna Vitae Productions will present Shrek – The Musical onstage at The Embassy Theatre Skegness.

We are now proud to present the creative team joining Magna Vitae Productions for this project – many from professional backgrounds giving their time to community development and enjoyment  – we hope you will get behind our strong creative talents.

Director – Andrea Hall

Andrea began her association with the theatre at the age of three becoming a member of, what was then, the Janice Sutton School of Dance. She continued dancing until the age of nineteen being involved in summer seasons at the Derbyshire Miners and the Embassy Theatre, then becoming a member of the Skegness Operatic Society and the Skegness Playgoers during which time she won the title of best actress in the play festival twice which lead to taking part in the All England play festival.

After being a member of the Skegness Operatic Company for a short time Andrea became the choreographer and then the company director, a role she has held for the past thirteen years. Andrea is also involved as director for a local children’s drama club.

I have been lucky enough to direct some incredible shows at the Embassy Theatre and I am delighted to have been chosen to direct Shrek the musical for Magna Vitae, this will be such an amazing opportunity for our local community to be involved with in whatever capacity they choose.

Musical Director – Steve Walker

After graduating with a BA (Hons) Degree in Music in 1983 Steve lead his own successful band during the 1980s and 90s regularly performing at Butlins, all the major UK holiday companies and all the well known London hotels. His band also played on some of the world’s most famous cruise liners, QE2, Canberra, Oriana and the prestigious 1998 world cruise on board Arcadia. During that time Steve appeared alongside many household names and his band appeared at Peoples Jazz Club in Rio de Janeiro and in a private show for the president of Argentina Carlos Menem in Buenos Aires.

Since then Steve has enjoyed a long, varied and successful career as a freelance musician, conductor, arranger and Musical Director appearing all over the world with recording artists such as The Commodores, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, The Miracles, The Temptations, The British Philharmonic Orchestra and The Nelson Riddle Orchestra.

Much in demand as a session musician, Steve, in association with Elvis Presley Enterprises Graceland USA, played with Elvis In Concert, a European Arena Tour that included the O2 and Wembley on the UK leg of the tour. He can also be heard on the new Rock School syllabus and appeared on the BBC Proms In The Park in front of 45000 people at London’s Hyde Park.

Steve is a published music arranger and adjudicator and also works part-time as a peripatetic brass teacher for the Lincolnshire Music Service. He is also the Musical Director of Skegness Silver Band, The North East Lincolnshire Youth Orchestra and The North East Lincolnshire Youth Jazz Orchestra.


Choreographer – Lisa Jay

Lisa is no stranger to working on stage. A Scholar & Graduate of Doreen Birds College in South London, at 16 she was selected to perform ‘Carmen’ with the Northern City Ballet; The starting point of her professional performing Career.

Cast as a Dancer/Singer she cruised periodically for 7 years. She spent 3 seasons at Blazers Nightclub in Windsor as a member of The Irving Davies Dancers Troupe, supporting Legendary artists Grace Kennedy, The late Paul Daniels, Hale and Pace, Jim Davison and Elkie Brooks. Her most honoured performance was dancing for His Royal Highness, Prince Philip at The Royal Variety show. Lisa went on tour with ‘The Radio One Road show’, working alongside Mike Read, Simon Bates and Gary Davies.

Lisa’s extensive career then took her on tour in Italy for 7 months, later going on to being cast as Dance Captain in Dick Whittington for ‘E & B Productions’ at The Hull Royal Theatre with Bernie Nolan and Cannon & Ball.

Lisa invested 14 years at Butlins Skegness, working up from Dance Captain to Production Manager. She fast learnt how to write scripts and went on to direct, produce and choreograph numerous shows.

Lisa’s biggest personnel responsibility came when she toured Great Britain with the casting company of Butlins, their jobs were to select and later manage the professional Dancers, Singers, Actors, Animators, Stage Technicians and Musicians.

In 2008 Lisa opened her own Performing Arts School in Skegness, with subsidiary branches called J’s Stage competing Street & Disco Crew, LJ Productions and the most recently opened KJ’s Dance Troupe in Sutton on Sea.

I am very excited to take on the role of Choreographer for “Shrek The Musical’ and know opening night is some time away but I just can’t wait to say…I know it’s today”
