Phil Hoyles as Ugly Sister Druscilla Tremaine


Phil was born and raised in Grimsby; his varied career has seen him working Holiday Parks, Theatre, Cruises, Ferries and Hotels all over the UK.

His first professional engagement was for P&O Cruises as a DJ, and then as Entertainment Manager for P&O Ferries. It was during his time as Entertainment Host for Shearings Holidays he started to perform his tribute show, which became known as The Tommy Cooper Experience.

He was the understudy for Jerome Flynn during the UK tour of the West End smash hit, Jus’ Like That!.

Phil has performed his tribute show all over the UK as well as abroad, entertaining guests of Thomson Holidays as well as P&O Cruises. In 2008 he was delighted to perform in front of Sir Anthony Hopkins when he unveiled a statue of Tommy Cooper in Caerphilly, Wales.

In 2009, Phil played the lead character of Professor Potty in the UK’s first ‘motion capture’ production of Looney Tunes Live at Butlins Skegness.

Phil has appeared in many pantomimes and summer seasons over the years and has played a range of characters from Emperor in ‘Aladdin’ at Embassy Theatre in Skegness, Wishee Washee in ‘Aladdin’ at Parkway Theatre in Cleethorpes, Alderman Fitzwarren in ‘Dick Whittington’ at Haverhill Arts Centre, Captain Shiver-me-fingers in ‘Dick Whittington’ and Sir Basil in ‘Goldilocks and the 3 Bears’ both at North Pier Theatre in Blackpool. He has also toured with productions of ‘Cinderella’, ‘Treasure Island’ and ‘Sleeping Beauty’.

Phil played Ugly Sister in ‘Cinderella’ at Leatherhead Theatre (2013) Medina Theatre, Isle of Wight (2014) and Haverhill Arts Centre (2015). In 2016 he was delighted to be back in his hometown of Grimsby to play Widow Twankey in ‘Aladdin’ for the Christmas season, and made a return to the venue in 2017 when he played Ugly Sister in ‘Cinderella’.

Phil has been touring the UK with comedy dining shows portraying characters from ‘Only Fools & Horses’ as well as ‘Fawlty Towers’, more recently he’s been doing some Tommy Cooper dining evenings. In 2017 he appeared in the Criterion Music Hall at the Bluetown Heritage Centre in Sheerness, as well as performing shows for residential and care homes.

Phil performs his own children’s magic show around the South coast for most of the year, as well as presenting his own show on Folkestone’s own Academy FM.

 Phil is delighted to be appearing in Pantomime again at the Embassy Theatre – albeit in a very different role to the last time he was here!
