We are thrilled to introduce the wonderful Dame Widow Twankey for the 2017 Magna Vitae Productions ALADDIN, running at the Embassy Theatre from 15-27 December.
Dereck comes from the West Country and trained as a mature student at the London School of Musical Theatre.
Dereck’s theatre credits include: Grandma in several productions of George’s Marvellous Medicine (Birmingham Stage); Tin Man in the Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Ugly Sister in Cinderella (both for PMA Productions); Friar Lawrence and Benvolio in Romeo & Juliet, Mr and Mrs Birling in An Inspector Calls and the title role in Macbeth (all for Arty-Fact Theatre); Mr Pinkerton/Elf in The Elves and the Shoemaker (Support Act); Captain Cholesterol and the Grannies from Mars (Quantum Theatre) and Quinny in Get ‘Em Off (Above The Stag Theatre).
Dereck has appeared in Panto for many years and credits include Pamplemousse in Sleeping Beauty and Benevola the Fairy in Rapunzel (both for the Theatre, Chipping Norton); Widow Twankey in Aladdin and Sarah The Cook in Dick Whittington (both for Jordan Productions). For several years he portrayed one of Cinderella’s Ugly Sisters at many venues across the country including Luton, Stevenage, Redditch and Potters Bar.
He scored a great hit at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival alongside his fellow Ugly Sister David Kent with their very own show, Uglies Do Edinburgh.
He also appeared in a number of TV commercials including: Gordon Ramsay’s Cookalong Live, Worcester Bosch, Hyundai and Lloyds Pharmacy.
Dereck is delighted to be appearing at the Embassy Theatre Skegness this Christmas as the ever lovable Widow Twankey.
Aladdin will be the most opulent and spectacular professional pantomime ever seen on this stage delivered by a strong, professional creative team and cast.
